New English Language Requirement For Private Hire Drivers
Transport for London (TfL) has announced that all new applicants, and existing private hire drivers applying to renew their licence for the first time since the introduction of this new requirement (14th October 2016) must now meet the equivalent of a B1 English language requirement.
It is essential for public safety that all licensed drivers can communicate in English at an appropriate level. Communicating with passengers to discuss a route, or fare, as well as reading, understanding and being able to respond to important regulatory, safety and travel information sent by TfL.
Our preparation courses will prepare you with everything you need to pass your Secure English Language Test. (SELT) is a test taken in a secure environment by people who are required to show their English language ability.
The Secure English Language Test consists of two exam modules: Reading & Writing and Speaking & Listening. Candidates must pass both modules for a (B1) qualification.
